Questions & answers

Zanus AI for Public Safety: questions & answers

Does an AI answer 911 or emergency calls?

No. Zanus AI serves only the non-emergency public desk: records, report status, permits, appointments, visitation and community programs. When a caller on the non-emergency line describes danger, the AI reads your approved instruction word for word, hang up and dial 911, or transfers at once by your rules. It never assesses, triages or dispatches.

Can an AI answer a police non-emergency line?

Yes. AI Phone answers your ten-digit non-emergency number and records-desk lines around the clock from the information your agency publishes. It explains how to get a report copy, books fingerprinting, says which lot holds a towed vehicle and files records requests, so the telecommunicators who also take 911 calls stay free for the emergency queue.

Will the AI give legal advice or details about a case?

No. Court dates, courtrooms and payment windows are given only as the court publishes them. Anything about a specific case, a warrant, a plea, a fine, a protective order or an appeal goes to the clerk's office or the person's attorney, and the AI takes no statements and shares no report contents.

What does the AI hold about residents who contact the agency?

Only the conversation record: who contacted the desk, what was asked, which published source answered it, and what was booked or filed. Case files, incident reports and criminal history never enter the Front Office, and the AI never writes into your records, CAD or court systems. Your agency's information never trains public models.

Can the Back Office help the records unit with release requests?

Yes, as a draft. It logs each request with its legal due date, finds the matching reports and recordings in your archive, and proposes redactions and the release letter; your records clerk decides what is released and approves every page.

Can the Back Office track officer training hours and renewals?

Yes. It keeps each officer’s and clerk’s training records, puts every renewal and required course on the calendar, and reminds the training coordinator before a date passes; the records stay private and every change is on record.

How do the Front Office and the Back Office work together for a public safety agency?

The Front Office answers the non-emergency call, sends anyone in danger to 911, and files the records request or books the fingerprinting; the request, the call transcript and the booking land on the resident’s record in the Back Office, where the records file, the due dates and the clerk’s work take over.
