Questions & answers

Zanus AI for Construction: questions & answers

Can an AI answer the office phone for a general contractor?

Yes. AI Phone answers your office line on the first ring while estimators and PMs are on site, from the information your company approves: service area, project types, the published schedule and how to get on the bid list. It books site visits with travel time and transfers engineering, safety and contract questions to your people with the context whispered in.

Does the AI give engineering, code or permit advice?

No. Load-bearing questions, code interpretation, permit requirements and means and methods are answered only from your approved published information; otherwise the call goes to the engineer, estimator or PM with the context attached. The AI never improvises a technical answer.

What happens when someone calls about a jobsite emergency?

The AI reads your approved emergency instructions word for word, emergency number first, and transfers the call to the on-call superintendent or PM. A gas smell, structural movement, an injury, an active leak or a utility strike is never left to the AI alone.

Can the AI change a schedule or commit to a pour date?

No. It answers schedule questions only from the schedule you publish to it, such as whether the pour is still Wednesday. Any change request goes to the PM with the transcript, and the AI commits to nothing beyond what is published.

Can the Back Office level sub bids before bid day?

Yes. It reads each sub’s quote in whatever format it arrives, lines it up against your scope sheet, flags exclusions and missing items, and puts one comparison in front of your estimator, who makes the call.

Does it track the notice deadlines in a contract?

Yes. It reads the dates from the contract, the general conditions and each change order — notice periods, submittal dates, retainage and closeout — puts them on the calendar with an owner and reminds the PM before one passes. What a clause means stays with your counsel.

How do the Front Office and the Back Office work together for a contractor?

The Front Office answers the homeowner, qualifies the job and books the estimate visit; the lead, the call transcript and the booking land on the customer’s record in the Back Office, where the estimate, the contract, the permits and the schedule take over until closeout.
